Happy 2010!!!

January 3rd, 2010

Hello everybody.

Happy New Year!!!

did you all see the beautiful Blue moon that was out on New Year’s Eve?

I actually saw the warm blue glow around the moon - I have never seen that before.

So here is a quick update on H4K:

Harmony4kidz and Westport Historic Society is planning a show

in Westport Town Hall - a fundraiser benefiting H4K - on Feb 6, 2010

tickets are $35.00

We are going to have a 2 hour show.

Line up will be announced by Jan 15th -but I will be singing and

I am creatig a special performance of Save The World with at least

10 to 20 kids ages from 9 to 18 singing the chorus.

WEBE 108 will be promoting the event and

We are contacting Westport Magazine to do a story on H4K

My book Bermuda Road will be available to be purchased at the show.

We are also selling advertising space for local businesses at

$50 per business card - and we will be giving  the

brochures out the night of the show.

Any larger sponsorships will have a mention at the event.

Anyone donating more than $1000 can post a banner at the show

and say a few words during the show about why they

decided to be a sponsor for Harmony4kdiz.

This is all happening very quickly and we need to invite people, sell

tickets, and sell add space.

We are going to be creating a Team of about 20 people who will be doing this asap.

The money that we raise will go to the following:

I have been thinking about re-doing the website for Harmony4kidz

I would like to create a Harmony4kidz brand for clothing, candles, mugs, skateboards, sneakers and so on

all made in the USA and all in part created or made by the homeless youths.

The website will sell the items until we are profitable enough to create a chain of stores that will be

a combination of Life Is Good/Starbucks - but with weekly live music as well.

A place to hang out, learn about our community and participate in making a difference for those less fortunate.

Perhaps we can get a space donated to us by either Bridgeport, Fairfield or Westport to create the first

Harmony4kidz store.

Anyway.

More will be coming soon.

Hope to see you all at our first event of 2010

Best wishes in the new year!!!

Peace, Love and Daisies,

Irena Hart

December 15th, 2009

Dear H4K fans,

Thank you so much for your supportive  comments and for reading our blog.

So far in December, we decided to do a Holiday Party - to benefit the homeless.

We are having a Knitting Marathon at Janet Kemp Fine Yarns - see our sponsor page

for location - it is in Stratford.

I will be performing there this Friday coming up Dec 18th from 4pm to 9pm

We will be collecting Sweaters, Scarves,  gloves and hats and will be donating them

to the local shelters, compliments of H4K

The book, Bermuda Road, needs one last round of spelling corrections and then we will have it available

on Amazon.com for sale - can’t wait - let’s create awesome sales for this book so that H4K can prosper

and help more kids.

Peace, Love and Daisies,

Irena (Hart) Makarchuk

Sept 21, 2009 UN international Day of Peace

September 23rd, 2009

Hello everyone,
I am finally starting the Harmony4Kidz blog. I am on the airplane right now flying back from Yosemite
where I sand Save The World at The Pines at Bass Lake.

A lot has happened for Harmony4Kidz this past year.

We got our 501 (c) 3 back in January this year.

Then I went to France to promote my new CD, Heart Strings

at MIDEM 2009. In March we started a marketing campaign for the single On The Dance Floor and

Harmony4Kidz was talked about in L.A., Chicago, Florida, New York, Canada, Hawaii, France, Atlanta,

facebook, myspace, twitter and so on..

Here is what’s new at Harmony4Kidz:
We are working hard on the Bermuda Road book. Last Monday Lynn, Elliott and I went to NYC
to take more pics of the kids. We will show the pics at our next Board Meeting to be held on Sept 24th at Westport Public Library at 7:30 pm. We are expecting the regular board members, Mitch Edwards, Liz, Tanya will be coming to help with the planning of the next fund raising event. ALso Robby Bridges from WEBE 108 will be visiting. Gail from Beautiful Faces will be there to discuss a possible event and a colaboration between Harmony4kidz and Beautiful Faces. Mary Von Ohlen will attend to discuss her wellness/nutrition program. Pat Dumas is coming to talk about the horses program. Larry, who plays the violin for me at times, was invited to come and speak about the math program he has been working really hard to develop.

We have a new addition to the Harmony4Kidz team - Eliott Fisher is now our new Chairman of Fundraising but he will not be attending this time.

Kiwanis Club and Harmony4Kidz:
We are also expecting Cindy Perham from Kiwanis Club. Kiwanis Club and Harmony4Kidz are
starting to work together. One thing that Kiwanis will help H4K create are Harmony4Kidz projects at 4 select high schools in the local area. The Harmony4Kidz projects will be organized at the Key Clubs.
The kids will create their own fundraisers and food/clothing drives. The food and clothing will be
distributed between local shelter as well as a trip to NYC to meet the kids in Union Square park.
Harmony4Kidz and Sendout Cards:
Curtis Lewis has approached H4K with a possible fundraising idea through http://www.sendoutcards.com
we are still in process of figuring out how that can work. I am meeting with Curtis again on Tuesday morning to discuss how this would work. The money that we raise could go to our new programs and making some important purchases:

Harmony4Kidz Van:
This is an important item for H4K to be able to purchase. Not only it will be a great way to advertise and spread the word about our cause, the van will also help us bring food and other items down to NYC to the kids. We will need to get special parking permit in NYC for the van so that we can go to various parks where the kids hang out. Once we have a van we will be doing monthly trips to NYC to bring the kids “Healthy Bites” lunch bags made of very healthy meals. It would be great to organize the high school kids to do these in the future.
We will also be bringing other donations to the kids - blankets, books, and anything else that gets donated to us.
Some of our new programs for the fall of 2009:
Harmony4Kidz 12 week workshops are almost ready to begin.
These will be held once a week with groups of 15 to 20 kids.
The workshops are from 7pm to 9pm. The first workshop is called “Following your heart”
The kids will be shown how to collage their “dreams”. They will participate in collaging
their feeling about where they are now and where they would like to be a year from now.
The kids will also be working on some art, writing their own songs, poetry, discussions and more.
The workshops are designed to boost self esteem through the arts. Since the workshops are still new and in the experimental stages, the kids will actually be involved in the design of the workshops. The are 2 age groups: teens - ages 14 to 18 and a young adult group of 19 to 25. The dates will be announced in the near future. The first workshop will be held in Bridgeport, CT
Harmony4Kidz will also begin resume writing services and job placement services.
More work ahead:
Some of the organizations we are thinking about reaching out to are:
Life is Good
Cherish the Children
Clinton Global Initiative

Future Fund Raising:

We are working on a fundraiser to be held in November in Wilton CT at Art Effects.
More on that will be posted soon. Eliott Fisher is the Chairman of that fundraiser.
November is the homelessness awareness month.
WEBE 108 will be helping us spread the word about this fundraiser.

Thanks so much for your support.
Harmony4Kidz is growing and starting to make a difference.
We are very excited to see how the workshops will unfold and what else the fall of 2009
will be bringing.

If you have any questions, ideas of how to help, if you know anyone who may need our help
or if you want to attend our meetings, volunteer in any capacity, etc - please contact us at

Hello world!

November 12th, 2008

Hello World,

November 2009

Dear H4K fans,

Thank you so much for your supportive  comments and for reading our blog.

We are working hard this month to help those in need.

November is the Homelessness Awareness month and we here at Harmony4kidz

have been spreading the word about the kids in Union Square and other homeless and at

risk youths.

We are following up on the scholarship program to Art and Music camps for 2010

We are talking with the Westport Historic Society and will be organizing a Fund Raising event

together to benefit both organizations.

We got 500 brochures donated to us  and we have an intern, Erin, who is helping us out

doing some community service.

Sendoutcards is also doing great - we have 2 customers and are looking for distributors.

We are also actively looking for a benefactor who can help Harmony4kidz spread it’s wings.

More will be coming soon.

Send us more comments.

We will be checking this site more frequently.
